  • Analysis of a legacy architecture und underlying business processes
At a prominent telecommunications company in the German market, I played a pivotal role in conducting a thorough analysis of their historically evolved IT stack. The primary objective was to identify the various systems and interfaces within the existing infrastructure. Additionally, the analysis sought to unravel the intricacies of underlying business purposes and processes that had remained undocumented over time. This comprehensive assessment aimed to provide a clearer understanding of the company’s technological landscape and enhance its operational transparency.
  • Modernization of a Legacy Application
I played a key role in the project involving the replacement of a legacy SOAP application with a modern RESTful Microservice built on TMF OpenAPI, implemented with Apache Karaf and Apache Camel on AWS infrastructure. In this capacity, my responsibilities included communicating with our customer to grasp their requirements and translating them into detailed tasks for our development team. As the representative stakeholder in the agile development process, I ensured seamless communication and took charge of comprehensive documentation throughout the project.
  • Radical IT Transformation
As a Solution Architect, I played a pivotal role in orchestrating the lift and shift of a legacy monolith application into the AWS cloud environment. This involved conducting comprehensive architectural design, performing a thorough security assessment, and employing threat modeling techniques. My responsibilities included overseeing the seamless transition of the application, ensuring optimal design considerations, and implementing robust security measures to mitigate potential threats in the cloud environment.
  • FiberDays 2022
The Breko FiberDays represent a significant event focusing on fiber networks, roll-out strategies, and wholesale/wholebuy opportunities. As a member of the Enghouse Networks exhibitor team, I offered guidance on the potentialities of the S/PRI process.

2021

  • Promotion: Product Manager
Having served as a product manager for an LNP/MNP application for over six years, I was formally promoted to the position of Product Manager.
  • Modernization of a Java 8 Application
I oversee a business application that previously utilized Java 8 and Payara Fish 5 as its runtime environment. As part of a harmonization effort across all our products, I transitioned its runtime to the OSGi container Apache Karaf and upgraded the entire code base to JDK 11.

2020

  • Optimization of Routing Data for an international Telco
Upon a customer’s transition from service routing to a proprietary routing system for mobile calls, I executed the implementation of a comprehensive and reliable set of routing data. This was based on the official zMRDB by MNP GbR. Additionally, I established a process to maintain synchronization between the local data and all qualified porting data from this source.

2019

  • Joining ITEX PDA
The ITEX PDA serves as the special interest group for Local Number Portability (LNP) in Germany, mandated by the AKNN (Arbeitskreis für Netz und Nummerierung). It holds responsibility for the PDA specification, officially endorsed by the Bundesnetzagentur BNetzA. While I had occasionally participated in meetings of this special interest group in the past, I have now been officially designated to represent Enghouse Networks Germany as of this date.

2017

  • Certified UX Design Specialist
I completed a three-day training program at XDI in Cologne, Germany, and successfully obtained certification as a UX Design Specialist.
  • Lead Development for the implementation of German PDA Specification v17
I assumed the role of both lead developer and product manager during the implementation of the PDA 17 specification. In this capacity, I delineated the requirements to my fellow developers.

2015

  • Domain Driven Designed Mediation plattform

In the landscape of German telecommunication processes, there exist various SOAP-based interfaces, many of which employ X.509 webservice security policies. Numerous customers utilize one of these interfaces to deliver services to a multitude of clients. To address this requirement, I played a crucial role in developing a versatile mediation and routing platform. This platform possesses the capability to enhance, route, encrypt messages for several protocols, and manage reporting and retries. Some of the supported protocols include, but are not limited to:

    • WBCI (WITA Based Carrier Interface, negotiation for provider change)
    • WITA (Wholesale platform of Deutsche Telekom AG)
    • S/PRI (Supplier/Partner Requisition Interface, Wholesale/Wholebuy for fiber lines)
    • TR-AAV (Technische Richtlinie für das Automatisierte Auskunftsverfahren, legal requirement for law enforcement)

2013

  • Implementation and certification of a WBCI compliant application
The WITA Based Carrier Interface was created to replace the outdated analog fax process for provider change. A crucial component of the specification was the necessity for an official certification of the interface implementation. I played a pivotal role in the development team tasked with implementing a domain-driven architecture using CQRS patterns and facilitating messaging between the components of this application. My responsibility extended to obtaining official certification for our application. To streamline and ensure the quality assurance of our application, I automated the certification process, making it reproducible and testable.

  • Website: Scolohub.com

Centipedes, despite being intriguing creatures, are not widely popular, with limited scientific research dedicated to them. Moreover, information on keeping these animals in a terrarium is scarce. Drawing on my experience of maintaining centipedes from 2004 to 2011, I decided to revive this hobby in late 2023.

In an effort to share knowledge and fill the gap in available information, I initiated a project to create a website dedicated to these obscure yet fascinating creatures. Currently, the project is still in development, with both the source code and hosting accessible on GitHub. I encourage anyone with an interest to actively participate in this collaborative endeavor, contributing to the growing repository of knowledge on centipedes and their care in captivity.

scolohub.com has been constructed using the static site generator Hugo.

  • Living: Home Improvement
In 2022, my wife and I embarked on the journey of purchasing an old house. While I had some prior experience in crafting, this project pushed me to a new level of DIY expertise. Together, we undertook a comprehensive range of tasks, from laying new floors to replacing wallpaper with finer finishes, addressing wall issues, and concealing cables beneath the finishes. As the summer arrived, a significant portion of our efforts shifted to the garden, spanning an expansive 700m². Our goal was to create a space that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also serves as a conducive habitat for local wildlife, including birds, hedgehogs, squirrels and a diverse array of insects and other arthropods.

2020

  • Book: Elektronische Körpermusik
Leveraging my experience with fanzines focused on music, I provided editorial support to the team working on an upcoming book about EBM, Electronic Body Music.

2018

  • Band: Ius Talionis
I am the bassist and backing vocalist for the black metal band Ius Talionis based in Aachen, Germany. My role involves crafting bass lines that not only provide a solid foundation with the drums but also serve as a bridge to complement the guitar melodies. Employing a finger-style playing technique, I incorporate additional methods such as slapping and tapping to enhance the musical dynamics. Currently, our upcoming album is in the recording phase, with drums and bass already captured in a live session. Presently, the guitars are being recorded as overdubs to finalize the production.

2016

  • Webdesign: lycanthropic.de

I undertook the design and implementation of the website and online store for the German underground music label, Lycanthropic Chants. The backend is powered by WordPress as the Content Management System (CMS), utilizing WooCommerce for the shop functionality along with additional plugins for managing digital download codes. The frontend was developed using the Bones framework.

  • Webzine: theNocturnalSilence.de
Musical preferences can evolve over time. While my enduring love for death metal and grindcore remains, I’ve also discovered the allure of various other dark musical genres. Much of this new exploration didn’t quite align with the theme of NecroSlaughter.de, predominantly encompassing black metal and other genres that defy easy categorization beyond being described as “dark, gloomy, pale”. In response, I decided to launch an additional webzine dedicated exclusively to this eclectic range of music. Although its existence was relatively brief, lasting around two years, remnants of the webzine persist on Github in its original form as a statically generated Hugo site. Its final testament was a printed edition featuring selected interviews, preserving a snapshot of its dynamic and diverse musical journey.

2015

  • Webdesign: Crypticbrood.de

I was responsible for the design and execution of the website for the doom/death metal band Cryptic Brood based in Wolfsburg, Germany. The backend functionality is powered by WordPress as the Content Management System (CMS), complemented by BuddyPress to serve as an internal forum for the band. The frontend was crafted using Bootstrap for a seamless and responsive user experience.

2010

  • Band: Cause Of Divorce
Grindcore may not be widely recognized as a conventional musical genre, but when even John Peel appreciates its appeal, it surely holds some merit. I dedicated a decade to playing bass in a Grindcore band. Unusual for this genre, I employed fingerstyle techniques, incorporating elements like slapping, and utilized a five-string bass. Our journey included the release of several albums and splits, and we performed at various gigs across Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, and the Czech Republic.

2003

  • Webzine: NecroSlaughter.de

My initial venture into official projects was Necroslaughter.de, an online fanzine dedicated to extreme metal music and grindcore. In the early stages, I manually curated the site, creating HTML pages and utilizing a .tk-domain. Around 2006, I transitioned to WordPress as a CMS, developing custom themes and plugins to cater to specific requirements, and eventually adopting the final NecroSlaughter.de-domain. Following the site’s conclusion, I safeguarded its content using Python scripts and preserved it in a format conducive to regeneration through the static site generator Hugo.

You can find everything on Github.
